Purses Poached

Bridgewater Police aren't saying if the incidents are related, other than the targets are similar and the incidents happened not far from one another.  The first incident happened on Wednesday afternoon. A purse was taken out of a vehicle parked at the LaHave Street ball field. That was sometime between 4:45 and 5:40pm.  And on Thursday afternoon, someone smashed out a passenger window smashed in a grey Honda Civic and stole a purse sitting on the seat.  The vehicle was parked at the HB Studios fieldhouse on Glen Allan Extension.  Police are asking for people to get ahold of them if they saw anyone hanging out in the parking lot last Thursday between 4:10 and 4:30.

 

Banking Card Fraud

It sounds like there have been a few people in the Bridgewater area who have been the victims of a banking machine scam.   A CKBW listener tells us she lost a thousand dollars from  her chequing account when someone accessed it over the weekend.  Neither her purse or her card were stolen, so someone got access to her account somehow.  And Bridgewater police are investigating.  So far, there's been no release of any information so it's not clear how much they know about the scam.  There are people talking about several ATM's that may have somehow been watched or compromised in someway.  But which of the banking machines that might be affected isn't being made public at this point.

Another  scam alert for the South Shore.  A number of people both members and non-members of the Lahave River Credit Union in Bridgewater have been contacted stating their credit or debit cards had been compromised. They were contacted from various phone numbers and were asked to provide the caller with their card number and up to three pieces of identification.  The calls are not being initiated from the Credit Union or a related company.  The public is being urged not to disclose information over the phone. Anyone with information about these incidents should contact the Bridgewater Police at 543-2464.
