Report Coming On ATV Use Along Centennial Trail

ATV use on the Centennial Trail will be an ongoing issue this fall. A meeting was held recently for people to discuss the idea and voice their concerns, or ideas on how it could work. Representatives from the town of Bridgewater and Municipality of Lunenburg held the meeting at Park View Education Centre. Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture in Bridgewater, Carol Pickings-Anthony, says there are options to consider.

Pickings-Anthony feels people are primarily concerned about ATV use late at night. The Central Nova ATV group has requested off-highway vehicle use on portions of the trail. A report will be issued to council later this fall.

Crews with Public Works have been working nearly around the clock to ensure that the large scale water, sewer and storm drain renewal project is completed as quickly as possible. The project involved replacing century old water lines, deteriorated sewage lines, installation of a storm drainage system, and renewal of sidewalks and pavement. The Region of Queens says there were some challenges including a large amount of intact timber cribbing interlaced with existing water and sewer lines.
