A disappointing day for Chelsea Whalen at the NCAA Division-One Track and Field Championships. The Liverpool native finished in 13th place in the javelin, after placing 12th last year. Whalen was hoping for a top eight performance. She will now focus on shot-put on Saturday. Also, Mattias Wolter of Conquerall Mills qualified for the final of the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase. Wolter finished fourth in his heat with a time of eight minutes and 45 seconds. The final will be run on Friday. The event is being held in Eugene, Oregon.
