Additional Councillors Coming To South Shore Schools

Schools across this region are getting additional help for students. South Shore Health is looking at providing two more councillors to every junior and senior high school to help with addiction, mental health and sexual health issues. Director for Community Services, Todd Leader, says its critical to have the service available for students.
"Adolescents live in the moment. If an adolescent realizes that he or she has some type of issue or difficulty that he or she wants to get help for, we need to have that service available in a timely way before the mood changes, you know, before the impulse changes or the motivation to address the issue."
Leader says councillors will be provided by an on-demand need from students. The additional councillors are expected to start in September.
