Scrappy Crimes

Bridgewater Police are investigating a break and enter into a Bridgewater business. Sometime during the overnight hours of Thursday October 22nd to Friday morning, October 23rd, a person or persons broke into Oickle’s Bottle Exchange on High Street. A sum of money and several other items were stolen. Police are asking anyone who witnessed these events to contact Bridgewater Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

You can pretty much guess more than one person was involved in this heist. Barrington RCMP are investigating the theft of scrap metal from a business in Barrington Passage that happened overnight last Thursday. Culprits cut open a gate to a fenced compound and stole two thousand pounds of scrap aluminum and 700 pounds of scrap stainless steel. Anyone with information concerning the theft is asked to contact the Barrington RCMP. (902-637-2325).

Lunenburg Crimes

A break and enter being reported at the Golf Course in Lunenburg. RCMP say it happened overnight Friday or early Saturday morning. Someone busted into the Bluenose Golf Club and took off with a substantial amount of alcohol. Police think a vehicle was likely involved in the crime. They are asking for anyone who saw any suspicious activity around the Lunenburg golf course after hours this weekend to call them. They are also reporting damage to property on Maple Avenue in Lunenburg. That was Saturday. Lawn ornaments were thrown around and a vehicle was damaged.

Lock Your Car

Another reminder to keep your vehicles locked. Over the long weekend, on the night of Saturday September 5th or the early morning hours of September 6th a number of vehicles parked in the Glen Allan subdivision were entered. The vehicles were rummaged through and various personal items and change were taken. Police are also looking into an incident from late last month. Sometime between 11 p.m. August 26th and 7 a.m. August 27th, a Ford Ranger was entered and a number of items including a quantity of change was stolen from the unlocked vehicle. Police are also looking out for a red Sport Tech Mountain bike taken from a yard on Desbrisay Drive in the overnight hours of September 6th.

Justice Issues

Shelburne RCMP say drug charges are pending after a 9-1-1 call to a Parr Street residence. They don't say what prompted the emergency call. But they say when they got there, they found a marijuana grow-op. Officers got a search warrant to dismantle the grow and seize exhibits. They say a large number of plants in various stages of growth were seized.

Chester Mounties are looking into a break, enter and theft in Chester village. Someone broke into Chester Area Middle school and stole a silver Hewlett Packard 15 inch computer monitor. It's believed it happened overnight Thursday.

Purses Poached

Bridgewater Police aren't saying if the incidents are related, other than the targets are similar and the incidents happened not far from one another.  The first incident happened on Wednesday afternoon. A purse was taken out of a vehicle parked at the LaHave Street ball field. That was sometime between 4:45 and 5:40pm.  And on Thursday afternoon, someone smashed out a passenger window smashed in a grey Honda Civic and stole a purse sitting on the seat.  The vehicle was parked at the HB Studios fieldhouse on Glen Allan Extension.  Police are asking for people to get ahold of them if they saw anyone hanging out in the parking lot last Thursday between 4:10 and 4:30.

 

Electronic Theft

At least five people in the Bridgewater area have been victims of electronic identity theft.    In one case, a woman says she lost about $1,000 from her bank account.    John Collyer, the town's deputy police chief, says they aren't sure yet if the money was taken through an automatic teller machine or by another means.    He won't say if they have any suspects but adds that in past cases they have been able to identify people through video surveillance.    Police are advising people to check their bank statements carefully and to notify them or the bank if there are any unusual transactions or withdrawals.
