Record Breaking Valentine's Day Radiothon
It's a record fundraising drive for an organization trying to purchase new equipment for hospitals in Lunenburg County. The Health Services Foundation was able to raise just over $95,000 during its annual radiothon on Valentine's Day. They had set a goal of $100,000 for the day. However, more donations are expected to pour in over the next few weeks. Announcer with CKBW and HANK FM spent the day at the hospital helping to raise the money. It turned out to be an overwhelming success. It's the fourth annual radiothon. The foundation is looking to raise enough money to buy a mobile x-ray unit for the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater. The total cost of the unit is $225,000. More fundraisers are planned to help reach the target.
