Council Size Reduced in Barrington
The next municipal council in Barrington will have a heavier work-load and more constituents to represent. The Nova Scotia Utility and Review board has given the green light on a request from the municipality to reduce the number of seats on its council from seven to five. The URB application deals primarily with the number of polling districts within the municipality. The number of voters in each of the five new polling districts range from 1,200 to 1,500 residents. The new boundary changes will be in effect when residents head to the polls in October for this fall’s municipal elections.
