A section of Highway 103 was shutdown for two hours Friday afternoon after a three-vehicle crash in Middlewood. The incident happened around 2:15. Police say preliminary investigation shows that a westbound vehicle stopped on the road to make a left hand turn and was rear-ended. The impact caused the first vehicle to be thrown into the path of an ambulance in the oncoming lane. The ambulance, which did not have a patient on board, ended up in the ditch after impact. Two women were taken to South Shore Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Two paramedics in the ambulance were taken to hospital for assessment as a precaution.
