The Town of Lunenburg will be honoured this evening as part of the Canadian Navy's 100th Anniversary celebrations. Petty Officer Chris Mosher from CFB Halifax will present the Mayor with a framed pictorial history of HMCS Lunenburg as part of the Canadian Navy Centennial Namesake Project. The picture includes a photograph of HMCS Lunenburg, a picture of the ship's badge and a short history of its service.
The River class frigate HMCS Lunenburg was commissioned on December 4, 1941 Similar namesake presentations are being made across Canada to bring attention to the Centennial of the Canadian Navy. Tonight's ceremony is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion on Duke Street.
