Privateer Funds
Privateer Days in Liverpool got underway with a major funding announcement of 30 thousand dollars by South Shore/St. Margarets M.P. Gerald Keddy. The funding was provided through the new Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program which provide Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. Privateer Days has attracted a multitude of visitors to Queens County for over 40 years.
Shooting Victim Identified
Lunenburg County RCMP have confirmed that 43 year old Christina (Tina) Mae Eisnor of Hemford, was the woman shot on Wednesday in the parking lot of Barry's Freshmart in New Germany. She died from her injuries late Wednesday night at the Q-E-2 Hospital in Halifax. RCMP say a man who was also shot remains in hospital critical condition. Sergeant Brigdit Leger says police believe the man shot the woman before shooting himself. Police say the two were known to each other, but haven't disclosed the nature of their relationship. Reports say the pair were husband and wife who had recently separated. RCMP are continuing their investigation and say it will be time consuming to interview witnesses and sift though the evidence.
